The first major snow in the Southern Appalachians in 2025

When I bought this old dilapidated cottage with lots of mountainside land in 2018, the realtors assumed that I was going to bulldoze the structure and build a new house. There are advantages to being a historic preservation architect with “hands on” construction experience . . . even if few of us ever get rich.

All of the rear of the property, going about 1800 feet to the south, is a deep mountain ravine. I have to build terraces to grow vegetables, fruits and herbs. It’s my own Itza Maya agricultural terrace complex! LOL Well, I am PART Itza.
