Video: The Taino descendants of Puerto Rico forgot how to feed themselves

During the mid-20th century period of industrialization, Puertoricans were brain-washed into thinking that imported food, bought in a supermarket, was better for them.

Several other factors were at play, which changed Puerto Rico from an island that fed itself and exported surpluses to other areas of the Americas into an island that receives 90% of its food on ships . . . mostly from Jacksonville, Florida.
