Unfortunately, very little archaeological work is taking place in the United States nowadays, because archaeology does not increase corporate profits and there are very few job openings for anyone, who obtains an Anthropology degree, After World War II, the archaeology profession became dependent on the slave labor of students to carry out major investigations. Many universities in the Southeast now only have an Anthropology professor on their staff, because it is required for these educational institutions to call themselves “universities.”
