Video – Many Southeastern Native Americans are partially descended from 17th century miners and refugees fleeing the Inquisition

National Native American Heritage Month

In preparing this video, funded by the California Arts Council and citizens of Mariposa County, California, I discovered absolute proof that the thousands of cryptic colonists in the Southern Highlands did not disappear. Those, who were not already married, were required to marry local Native American spouses by the Kingdom of Apalache. Within a generation or two, most of the colonists probably considered themselves to be Native Americans.

For example, genetic testing of “Cherokee” heroine Nancy Ward, revealed that she did not have a drop of Cherokee blood. Her ancestry was primarily Jewish and southern Mesoamerican. Nancy lived in Northeast Georgia ntil 1995.
