It was the Romans who first used the word Indiae to describe a group of people, apparently from North America or Greenland, who were carried by currents to the coast of northern Germany.

This is not a legend, but absolute fact. Indigenous Americans have also appeared on the shores of Ireland, Scotland and Norway.
