In this color slide, Craig and Woody are hauling fish and Blue Crabs that we speared in a tidal pool, across a mile wide beach. They are carrying the fish in a one person inflatable life raft. Our other two rafts were shredded by the tornado.
Fish, shrimp, crabs, wild grapes, yucca roots and cactus leaves were our only sources of food. Beyond is the Great Cumberland Desert. Our campsite was located on the left side of the Forest of Giant Spiders on the far right. Hairless spiders, the size of tarantulas would jump back and forth between trees to catch insects and small birds. We decided not to camp in the forest. Below is a scene in the Great Cumberland Desert.
Hi Richard, I wouldn’t like being so near all those creepy crawlies. What did you have for protection to keep them away. ?

Nothing! We were castaways on an uninhabited island with no working radio and very little food, when we started the two week adventure.
