Introduction to the climax (Chapter 12) of the French Courtesan, Who Came in from the Cold
by Richard L. Thornton, Architect & City Planner
The Shenandoah Valley of Virginia
Long long ago . . . in land faraway, two beautiful, intelligent women fell in love with a man, who saved their lives and treated them kindly, then decided to share him and raise all their children by him together.
- How do you explain a beautiful French actress, who secretly a counter-drug agent for the French equivalent of the CIA . . . a first generation Swedish-American attorney, who is actually a covert agent for the FBI . . . and a goatherd, who is actually an architect . . . smoking peace pipes on the bank of the Shenandoah River in Harpers Ferry . . . then performing a Native American marriage ceremony from Tabasco State, Mexico . . . then drawing up legal agreements, which bypassed laws against bigamy?
- How do you explain when one of the most powerful law enforcement officials in the Commonwealth of the Virginia showed up one morning in the goatherd’s kitchen then threatening to arrest him, because he had called in the FBI in a criminal case, involving rogue US Army commandos’ attacks on a federally licensed food plant?
- How do you explain when the young Swedish-American FBI agent and the goatherd set up a trap for this arrogant Virginia law enforcement official, which later enabled the incoming US Attorney General Janet Reno to shut down a massive cocaine pipeline, running from South Florida to the Mid-Atlantic States?
- How do you explain the afternoon in a summer, when the French actress was serving as the goatherd’s surrogate wife, while his real wife was 600 miles away in Atlanta for the summer . . . expecting several of her witch friends to entrap the goatherd. The surrogate wife is cooking a gourmet meal to show off her skills learned at the Ecole du Cordon Bleu, when Katie Couric drives up the driveway in her Navy blue Ford Explorer and walks through the kitchen door, asking for water to quench the thirst of her daughter, Ellie. Well, it would take a lot of explaining for that one.
It takes a long chapter to explain these extraordinary experiences. Chapter Twelve is my final Christmas gift to you, the readers. Yes, this all really happened.
