What the original Uchee looked like

Part 18 of The Americas Connected series

by Richard L. Thornton, Architect

This is an old photograph of the Mansi Sami Tribe, known as the Havssamiska by Swedes. I visited the Mansi about 170 miles (274 km) north of the Arctic Circle, near the boundary between Sweden and Norway. At the time, I was posing as the boyfriend-bodyguard of a NATO biologist, who was taking samples of radioactive fallout from Soviet nuclear bomb tests.

The valley that they lived in extended directly into a fjord and then the North Sea. Therefore, they would be classified as Sjö Sami (Sea Sami) in Swedish and Sjöke (Sea People) in Gamla Norse. In fact, Havs – Samiska (Sea Sami) is the alternative Swedish name for these people. Sjöke is pronounced exactly as the branch of the Creeks in NE Georgia, known as the Sokee or Soque . . . the tribe in NW South Carolina, known as the Jokee or Jocasee . . . and the co-founders of the so-called Olmec Civilization in southern Mexico, known as the Soque or Zoque.

I am showing this to readers, so the Native Americans will understand that when I say people from Scandinavia are the root stock for the Creek People, I do not mean people, who looked like Brittney Spears. Black haired, bronze skinned peoples from NW Iberia and SW Ireland came at about the same time. Native Americans from Peru and Southern Mexico later settled among the Uchee and intermarried with them.

These pioneers in Southeastern North America were Uralic like the Finns, modern Sami and Karelians. They were not Asians from eastern Siberia. I might add that the Maya Migration Legend states that their ancestors also came from that part of the world, also. They followed the Atlantic Coast of North America to reach Yucatan. The earliest example of the Maya numbers and glyphs may be found in Nyköping, Sweden on the Baltic Sea. They have been dated to 2000 BC.

Nyköping, Sweden petroglyphs
Nyköping, Sweden symbols cover the petroglyphs at Track Rock Gap in Georgia. This is very obvious evidence that cannot be ignored.

So if your family has a surprisingly high level of Sami, Finnish, Karelian and Pre-Celtic Irish DNA markers, they should be considered Native American. Below are paintings of the Uchee around Savannah by German artist, Georg Von Reck.

  1. Our peoples were in Europe long before Celts or Vikings appeared. Laplanders, the natives, are said to have stories that their ancestors came from the west, over the seas. The People took with them traditions like standing stones. Vikings knew North Amerca was here because they were told that by local natives and Inuit, who they called Skræling. niio
