Videos: Story of the migration of the Miccosukee’s ancestors from Tabasco, Mexico to NE Georgia

The Miccosukee are descended from the Sokee (Soque) People of Northeast Georgia and the Soque (Zoque) People of Tabasco State, Mexico. They were the progenitors of the Olmec Civilization and participants in the Maya Civilization. Lidar scans of the Sokee’s former capital in Batesville, GA have revealed a large, stepped earthen pyramid surrounded by smaller earthen structures, including agricultural terraces and irrigation canals.
