Bob Van Dillen, the modest, but highly competent, chief meteorologist at Channel 5 in Atlanta, broke a bunch of his TV station’s rules. Early Friday morning, he had started videoing a news segment on the record flooding of Peachtree Creek, when he noticed a woman drive into the churning waters. The TV crew called 911, but Van Dillen realized that the water was already up to her chest and rising. The rescue crew would not be there for another 15-20 minutes..
The brave meteorologist did not hesitate. He handed his microphone and wallet to a crew member and charged into the dangerous waters. He got to the woman just as the water was about to reach her mouth. She was in emotional shock by the ordeal, but thanks to his bravery, she was not harmed physically.
What a hero!! Bravo brave man!
