It predates the oldest known civilization in Mesoamerica!
It is quite likely that the town, which developed around the 5,550 year old Bilbo Mound and platform village in Savannah, GA was much older. There are several large mounds near the Bilbo Mound, which date from the period of 2,800 BC to 1,600 BC. However, that part of Savannah has been intensively developed for over two centuries. Thus, it is unlikely that archaeologists will ever be able to discern a town plan there. However, the Poverty Point Archaeological Zone is in astonishingly good condition.
